31/10/2025
On October 31, 2025, at Agribank’s Headquarters, a delegation from NongHyup Bank of Korea, led by Mr. Kang Tae Young – Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, paid a visit and held a working session with the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank). The visit marked a new stage in the cooperative relationship between the two leading financial institutions in the fields of agricultural finance, digital transformation, and ESG, towards sustainable development.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Jeong Do Yeong – Head of Global Business Division, Mr. Kang Min Wook – Head of Global Business Promotion, and Mr. Park Chang O – Director of NongHyup Bank Hanoi Branch. Representing Agribank were Mr. Pham Toan Vuong – Member of the Board of Members, General Director; Deputy General Directors Mr. Doan Ngoc Luu, Mr. Do Duc Thanh; together with heads of related departments.
Speaking at the meeting, Agribank’s General Director Mr. Pham Toan Vuong expressed his pleasure in welcoming the NongHyup Bank delegation, and affirmed that the long-standing and effective cooperation between the two sides over the past two decades has contributed significantly to the development of agricultural finance and the exchange of banking experience. He emphasized that Agribank, as the leading state-owned commercial bank in agricultural and rural finance, always values and seeks to expand cooperation with reputable international partners, especially NongHyup Bank – a leading financial group in Korea in the fields of agriculture and community finance.
In response, Mr. Kang Tae Young, Chairman and CEO of NongHyup Bank, thanked Agribank for the warm reception and shared insights into NongHyup Bank’s experience in developing financial products serving the agricultural sector, applying digital technology in retail banking and risk management. He expressed his strong belief that the two banks have great potential to expand cooperation in the future, particularly in green credit, sustainable investment, digital technology transfer, and human resource training.
During the working session, the two sides agreed to continue effectively implementing existing cooperation agreements while expanding collaboration into new areas such as green finance, digital banking, high-tech agricultural finance, and agricultural product commercialization, toward a model of sustainable, modern, and comprehensive development.
The cooperative relationship between Agribank and NongHyup Bank was established in 2000 and has been continuously strengthened over time. In 2013, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation in trade finance, remittance, and staff training. In 2017, they further signed a Remittance Agreement without Bank Account, facilitating cross-border transactions for Vietnamese and Korean workers.
Training and professional exchange have been key highlights of this partnership: more than 500 Agribank staff members have studied and conducted field visits at NongHyup Bank, while over 100 NongHyup Bank staff have been hosted and trained at Agribank, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and sharing experience in agricultural banking management.
In August 2025, a high-level Agribank delegation led by General Director Pham Toan Vuong visited Korea to discuss development strategies, connect the agricultural–financial ecosystem, and explore models supporting high-tech agriculture. NongHyup Bank introduced advanced technological solutions in production management, traceability, and agricultural product commercialization, contributing to the optimization of agricultural value chains.
This visit once again affirmed the close and strategic partnership between Agribank and NongHyup Bank, while opening up new opportunities for cooperation in the shared journey toward green growth, digital transformation, and international integration between the two financial institutions.
