Agribank – Advancing digital payment infrastructure and promoting a cashless society
20/11/2025
As Vietnam accelerates its national digital transformation agenda, cashless payments have emerged as a foundational component of a modern and transparent financial system. Leveraging its position as the largest state-owned commercial bank with the most extensive network across the country, Agribank continues to affirm its leading role by investing in infrastructure, expanding digital services, and accompanying the banking sector in building a secure, convenient, and inclusive digital payment ecosystem for all segments of society.
Agribank’s unique advantage lies in its unmatched ability to reach customers in rural, remote, and underserved areas—communities that traditionally have limited access to modern financial services. By deploying QR code payments and the VietQR fast transfer service extensively, Agribank has made significant contributions to transforming consumer behavior, promoting financial inclusion, and enhancing transparency in grassroots economic activities. Initiatives such as “Cashless Traditional Markets” and the roll-out of VietQR for small traders and cooperatives have delivered tangible benefits, making payments faster, safer, and more cost-efficient while reducing risks associated with cash transactions.
In parallel with expanding service coverage, Agribank has continuously upgraded its technology infrastructure, enhanced features on its digital banking platforms, strengthened multi-channel payment connectivity, and reinforced security measures to improve customer experience. In just the first ten months of 2025, Agribank recorded over 60 million outward transactions via VietQR—clear evidence of the bank’s infrastructure reliability, operational excellence, and growing customer trust nationwide.
Beyond service deployment, Agribank actively contributes to shaping industry policies and payment standards in collaboration with regulators and intermediary payment organizations. The bank’s commitment to developing standardized QR payment infrastructure—formalized at the seminar “QR Code Payments: Transparency and Unlimited Experience”—underscores Agribank’s pioneering role in helping establish a unified digital payment foundation for the economy.
Moving forward, Agribank remains committed to fulfilling its mandate as a core state-owned commercial bank by expanding digital payment coverage across all regions, strengthening cooperation with industry partners, and driving continuous technological innovation. With a long-term vision centered on customer benefit and sustainable economic development, Agribank is determined to accompany the nation’s digital transformation journey, fostering a more modern, transparent, and cashless society.
