Agribank’s digital transformation: Modern and dynamic in the heart of the Mekong Delta
08/05/2026
From vast rice fields to expansive aquaculture areas, the Mekong Delta is undergoing a dynamic transformation in the digital economy era. Along this journey, Agribank has not only maintained its role as a key provider of credit for the “Tam nông” sector but has also taken the lead in digital transformation, bringing modern banking services closer to people across the riverine region.
In recent years, digital transformation has become one of Agribank’s strategic priorities. In the Mekong Delta, where waterways are extensive and communities are widely dispersed, access to financial services has traditionally been a challenge. However, digital transformation has created new opportunities for Agribank to overcome geographical barriers and extend banking services to households, marketplaces, and production areas throughout the region.
Through investments in technology infrastructure, upgrades to its core banking system, and the development of online transaction platforms, Agribank has gradually built an integrated digital banking ecosystem. Across the region, it is becoming increasingly common to see people using smartphones to transfer money, pay utility bills, purchase goods, and receive payments for agricultural products through bank accounts. As a result, digital transformation is no longer a distant concept but has become part of everyday economic and social life, contributing to a more modern and progressive rural landscape.
To better meet customer needs, Agribank has developed a range of modern and accessible digital banking products and services. A key example is the Agribank E-Mobile Banking application, which offers convenient features such as 24/7 instant transfers, bill payments, mobile top-ups, ticket booking, and online shopping. At the same time, the QR Pay system has been widely deployed at stores, traditional markets, supermarkets, and tourist destinations, enabling customers to make fast, secure, and cashless payments.
Agribank has also continued to expand its modern banking service ecosystem across the region by developing its payment card network and increasing the deployment of ATM, CDM, and POS systems, closely integrated with its digital banking platforms to serve customers in remote areas. As of May 2026, the Mekong Delta region had been equipped with 523 ATM/CDM machines and nearly 1,500 POS terminals, contributing to financial inclusion and gradually narrowing the gap in access to banking services between urban and rural areas.
Notably, a number of initiatives, including cashless commune programs, tuition and hospital fee payments, and social welfare disbursements through bank accounts, have been effectively implemented across provinces in the Mekong Delta. These initiatives represent not only technological progress but also greater transparency and convenience in economic and social activities.
Agribank’s digital transformation extends beyond the digitalization of traditional banking services and is increasingly focused on building a digital financial ecosystem linked to agriculture and rural development. Through data connectivity, Agribank is gradually supporting customers in managing cash flows and monitoring production and agricultural product sales. As transactions become digitalized, capital flows become faster, more transparent, and more efficient, helping improve management capacity among individuals and businesses.
One of the key factors behind the success of Agribank’s digital transformation in the Mekong Delta is its dynamic and innovative young workforce. At branches across the region, young employees serve as an important bridge between the Bank and its customers, directly assisting people in using digital banking applications, opening accounts online, and adopting cashless payment methods through approachable and easy-to-understand guidance. Their spirit of innovation, professionalism, dedication, and customer-centric mindset is helping shape Agribank’s image as a modern, friendly, and sustainable bank.
As digital transformation continues to accelerate, Agribank views it not merely as a trend but as an essential requirement for sustainable development. In the Mekong Delta, this journey continues with the goal of expanding digital services to all customer segments, particularly rural residents; enhancing customer experience; strengthening information security; and supporting local economic development.
Across the waterways of the Mekong Delta, the digital transformation journey is gaining momentum. Along that journey, Agribank continues to affirm its position as a pioneering, modern, and dynamic bank, accompanying local communities toward a sustainable digital future.
