Agribank enhances foreign currency control standards through collaboration with Bank of America

13/11/2025

Amid increasing volatility in global foreign exchange markets, strengthening the control of physical foreign currency has become essential to safeguarding banking system security and protecting customer interests. In alignment with international standards and to enhance practical operational capabilities, Agribank partnered with Bank of America (BOA) to organize specialized training sessions on detecting counterfeit foreign banknotes in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Led directly by BOA’s senior experts, the program focused on advanced examination techniques and verification criteria widely applied across international banking systems. Key training components included identifying security features and distinguishing characteristics of major international banknotes such as USD, EUR, and AUD; applying both physical and optical inspection methods; and examining security threads, 3D security fibers, color-shifting elements, serial numbers, and microprinting details. These insights equipped Agribank staff with a more comprehensive, systematic, and accurate approach to identifying counterfeit banknotes.

The training not only strengthened the professional competency of tellers, cashiers, and treasury officers, but also contributed to refining Agribank’s foreign currency verification processes to ensure greater consistency, transparency, and alignment with global standards. This represents a critical step toward minimizing operational risks, preventing counterfeit currency from entering circulation, and enhancing the safety and reliability of all customer transactions involving foreign currency.

As a core State-owned commercial bank, Agribank places strong emphasis on staff development, technology modernization, and international cooperation with reputable global financial institutions such as Bank of America. These knowledge-sharing initiatives demonstrate Agribank’s proactive commitment to elevating operational standards, reinforcing system safety, and contributing to the stability of Vietnam’s foreign exchange market.

With a customer-centric vision, Agribank remains dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in foreign currency control, continuously upgrading technology, enhancing procedures, and strengthening staff expertise. Through these efforts, Agribank ensures that every customer transaction is safe, transparent, and trustworthy—affirming its position as a leading, professional, and globally integrated financial institution.
