14/09/2026
As part of the Ministry of Finance’s international investment promotion programme in the United Kingdom and Europe, an Agribank delegation led by Deputy General Director Phùng Thị Bình attended the “Vietnam Capital Markets Day 2026” conference at the London Stock Exchange (LSE), held a working session with Standard Chartered Bank, and visited the Embassy of Vietnam in the Republic of Austria for a working session.
The series of activities provided Agribank with an opportunity to expand its relations and strengthen connections with international financial institutions and partners, while facilitating exchanges of experience on governance, risk management, products and services, as well as discussions on emerging requirements in the process of international integration.
Strengthening engagement with the international investment community
On September 11, 2026, the Agribank delegation attended “Vietnam Capital Markets Day 2026” at the London Stock Exchange, under the theme “Vietnam – A Driving Force for a New Era of Growth”, hosted by the Ministry of Finance.
The conference was attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyễn Đức Chi; Chairwoman of the State Securities Commission of Vietnam Vũ Thị Chân Phương; Chief Executive Officer of the London Stock Exchange Julia Hoggett; representatives of the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA); and nearly 300 delegates representing financial institutions, economic groups and international investment funds.

Discussions at the conference focused on market prospects, the ability to mobilise international capital, the reclassification of Vietnam’s stock market, and solutions to strengthen financial connectivity between Vietnam and the United Kingdom.
As Vietnam’s capital market enters a new stage of development, the conference served not only as an investment promotion event but also as a forum for regulators, businesses and investors to discuss institutional reforms, enhanced transparency, market access and the expansion of international capital-raising channels.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyễn Đức Chi emphasised that, amid significant shifts in international capital flows, Vietnam remains committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability, improving the investment and business environment, and promoting innovation, digital transformation and green growth. At the same time, Vietnam prioritises attracting high-quality, long-term capital flows associated with the transfer of knowledge, technology and governance experience.
Four thematic panel discussions were held as part of the conference, bringing together representatives of regulatory authorities, listed companies, Vietnamese securities firms and international investors. The discussions focused on key issues facing Vietnam’s capital market, including stock market reclassification, capital mobilisation for the new stage of growth, access to international capital, and global investors’ perspectives on Vietnam.

For Agribank, participation in an international financial forum bringing together regulators, financial institutions and major investors provided an opportunity to strengthen exchanges, gain insights into shifts in international capital flows, and expand relations with partners in the banking, finance and investment sectors. This also enables Agribank to gain greater access to governance experience, international standards and relevant resources for cooperation in support of its objective of enhancing competitiveness and deepening international integration.

Promoting cooperation with Standard Chartered Bank
Building on the connections established at Vietnam Capital Markets Day 2026, Agribank’s programme in London continued with bilateral exchanges with international financial institutions. Deputy General Director Phùng Thị Bình and the Agribank delegation held a working session with senior representatives of Standard Chartered at the bank’s headquarters in London.
Standard Chartered is an international banking group operating in more than 50 markets and has been a long-standing partner of Agribank in Vietnam for many years.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged information on operations and shared experience in product and service delivery and risk management, while also discussing the impact of Basel III standards on trade finance activities.
As requirements for capital adequacy, risk management and trade finance increasingly align with international standards, the discussions provided Agribank with a basis for drawing on practical experience as it continues to enhance its governance capacity, risk controls and the quality of its products and services.

Strengthening relations with Standard Chartered, a long-standing international partner of Agribank, contributes to expanding Agribank’s cooperation network while providing an additional channel for exchanging experience in governance, risk management, and product and service development in line with international practices. This also represents a concrete step in advancing Agribank’s proactive engagement with international financial institutions as it continues to enhance its operational capacity.
Expanding connections in the Republic of Austria
Following its engagement activities in the United Kingdom, the Agribank delegation continued its programme in the Republic of Austria, thereby broadening the scope of cooperation to potential partners in Central and Eastern Europe. On September 13, 2026, the delegation visited and held a working session with the Embassy of Vietnam in the Republic of Austria.
At the meeting, Deputy General Director Phùng Thị Bình briefed the Ambassador on Agribank’s operations and Agribank’s role in supporting investment for socio-economic development in Vietnam, while also discussing directions for strengthening international cooperation in the coming period. Agribank expressed its hope that the Embassy of Vietnam in Austria would continue to serve as a bridge, supporting Agribank in expanding relations with financial institutions, banks and businesses in Austria as well as across Central and Eastern Europe.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Austria Vũ Lê Thái Hoàng spoke highly of Agribank’s role and activities and affirmed that Vietnam’s diplomatic mission in Austria stands ready to work alongside and support Vietnamese banks and businesses in strengthening connections and accessing international markets, thereby contributing to the promotion of economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Austria.

The series of activities in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Austria reflects Agribank’s proactive approach to expanding relations and strengthening connections with financial institutions, banks and international partners. As Vietnam becomes increasingly integrated into the global financial market, these connections create further opportunities for Agribank to access experience, resources and advanced governance standards, thereby enhancing its operational capacity and ability to meet the requirements of international integration in the new stage.
