The training session was attended by Agribank’s leadership and staff from various departments at the headquarters, including the Financial Institutions Department, Trade Finance Center, Anti-Money Laundering Center, Non-Credit Risk Center, Audit and Supervision, Payments Center, Corporate Banking Department, and representatives from the Tier-1 branches in Hanoi. Additionally, representatives from Tier-1 branches across Agribank’s system participated virtually. The broad participation of specialized units highlights Agribank’s proactive approach to updating knowledge, enhancing professional competence, and boosting international integration.

This training session is a practical activity aimed at updating global banking industry trends and enhancing the professional capabilities of Agribank staff to meet the increasing demands in the process of development and integration.

During the training session, Wells Fargo experts shared in-depth insights, focusing on prominent trends in modern banking operations. Notably, they discussed the rapid rise of increasingly sophisticated and organized cross-border financial fraud. Experts emphasized the importance of adopting risk-based management methods, combining technology and internal controls to enhance fraud prevention and detection effectiveness.

The training session also touched on the application of technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI) and system integration solutions, in optimizing operations and enhancing banking service quality. New trends in payments, such as instant payments and the expansion of cross-border connectivity, were also analyzed and evaluated by the experts, opening up numerous future cooperation opportunities.

In trade finance, flexible solutions like UPAS L/C, LC Negotiation, Counter-Guarantee-Based Guarantees, and Guarantee Confirmation were introduced as effective tools to support liquidity for banks and corporate customers. The training session also discussed expanding the scope of financing for transactions involving services and technical contracts, on a case-by-case basis.

Another notable topic was the risks arising from complex international trade transactions, particularly those involving third parties or offshore financial areas. Experts recommended that banks strengthen client due diligence, control cash and goods flows, and strictly adhere to regulations on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing.

The training session was conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere, with numerous practical questions raised by Agribank’s specialized units. The discussions focused on specific issues related to operational implementation, contributing to the clarification of training session topics and enhancing their practical applicability.

The training session, with the participation of experts from Wells Fargo, further reaffirms Agribank’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation, proactively adopting advanced standards, and improving management capacity, service quality, and competitiveness.
