Agribank promotes sustainable credit growth, channeling capital into key sectors.
23/04/2026
With nearly four decades of development, Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has consistently directed its lending toward practical, high-impact projects, helping build a solid foundation for safe and sustainable socio-economic growth. Its credit flows have played a pivotal role as a key driver of development across multiple sectors of the economy.
Amid a steadily recovering banking sector, credit growth continues to be managed in alignment with the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam’s orientation, prioritizing business activities, key economic sectors, and major growth drivers. As of March 31, 2026, total outstanding credit in the banking system exceeded VND 19.18 million billion, up 3.18% compared to the end of 2025. Coordinated credit policies across sectors have been effectively implemented, improving access to bank financing and contributing to overall economic expansion.
For Agribank, maintaining sustainable, safe, and effective credit growth remains a consistent strategic priority. In this context, Agribank continues to advance technological innovation, accelerate digital transformation, implement ESG practices, and channel capital into key sectors that drive long-term development.
Agriculture and rural development remain Agribank’s core focus and have been the backbone of its lending strategy throughout its history. As of the end of 2025, outstanding loans in this sector reached nearly VND 1.3 million billion, accounting for approximately 64% of Agribank’s total loan portfolio. This reaffirms its position as the leading bank in terms of scale and market share in agricultural and rural financing in Vietnam.
At the same time, Agribank identifies ESG as a central pillar of its long-term strategy. Agribank has recently been recognized among the Top 10 Vietnam ESG Green Banks 2026, reflecting its consistent and systematic efforts toward sustainable development.
Digital transformation and technological advancement are also key priorities in Agribank’s roadmap toward becoming a “Digital Bank – Green Bank – Bank for the Community.” In 2025, Agribank continued to integrate with the National Population Database and VNeID system, standardizing data for more than 10.2 million individual customers and 143,693 corporate customers, while enhancing electronic identification and authentication capabilities. In parallel, Agribank implemented 41 training programs for nearly 97,800 staff members, focusing on information technology, digital transformation, digital skills, AI applications, and customer service in the digital environment.
Beyond its leading role in agriculture and rural development, Agribank has established itself as a trusted financial partner for the business community, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperatives, and household businesses. Agribank offers flexible credit policies tailored to the specific characteristics of each sector and locality.
In response to increasingly urgent sustainability requirements, Agribank has proactively directed credit flows toward green and environmentally friendly sectors, contributing to the realization of national green growth objectives. To date, Agribank’s outstanding green credit balance has reached approximately VND 28 trillion, focusing on clean agriculture, sustainable forestry, renewable energy, and the circular economy. Through these efforts, Agribank not only provides financial resources but also plays a guiding role in supporting businesses and producers in transitioning toward greener and more sustainable models.
In 2026, alongside its continued focus on agriculture and rural development, Agribank will further channel capital into priority sectors in line with Government policies. This strategic direction reinforces its role as a leading commercial bank, contributing to national efforts to advance economic development in a new era.
