Agribank reaffirms its position among Vietnam’s Top 10 most reputable commercial banks in 2026
07/08/2026
On the afternoon of August 6 in Hanoi, Vietnam Report Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Report), in coordination with VietNamNet Newspaper, held a ceremony to announce the Top 50 Reputable and Effective Public Companies, along with the Top 10 and Top 5 Most Reputable Companies in the Finance, Banking, Insurance and Technology sectors in 2026.
At the ceremony, Agribank was once again honoured among Vietnam’s Top 10 Most Reputable Commercial Banks in 2026, reaffirming its position as one of Vietnam’s most reputable commercial banks and its pivotal role in financing the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas, while making active contributions to the country’s socio-economic development.
Vietnam Report’s ranking of Vietnam’s Top 10 Most Reputable Commercial Banks is based on independent and objective research using three criteria: financial capacity as reflected in the most recent annual financial statements; media reputation assessed through the Media Coding methodology; and survey results from respondents and relevant stakeholders.
Agribank’s continued presence among Vietnam’s most reputable banks recognises its efforts to maintain safe, efficient and sustainable business operations. It also reflects Agribank’s positive progress in strengthening its governance capabilities, placing customers at the centre, and leveraging innovation and digital transformation as drivers of growth.
As of July 30, 2026, Agribank’s total assets exceeded VND 2.7 quadrillion; total mobilised funds surpassed VND 2.5 quadrillion; and outstanding loans to the economy reached VND 2.08 quadrillion. Of this amount, outstanding loans to agriculture, farmers and rural areas exceeded VND 1.32 quadrillion, accounting for 64.9% of total outstanding loans. These figures further affirm Agribank’s pioneering and pivotal role in implementing major policies of the Party, the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam on the development of agriculture, farmers and rural areas, contributing to food security, the advancement of modern agriculture and new-style rural development.
In July 2026, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1206/QD-TTg approving the policy on additional investment in Agribank’s charter capital for the 2025–2027 period, corresponding to the remaining profits actually remitted to the State Budget, amounting to VND 29.690 trillion.
With additional charter capital provided by the Government and the State Bank of Vietnam, Agribank’s charter capital will increase to VND 81.328 trillion, strengthening the Bank’s financial foundation to further expand its operations, enhance its competitiveness, and better meet the capital needs of the economy.
As a commercial bank wholly owned by the State, Agribank currently has the largest operating scale in the banking system, with an extensive nationwide network spanning urban and rural areas, remote regions, border areas and islands. Agribank currently serves more than 23.2 million account holders and approximately 3 million borrowers, with around 95% of transactions conducted through digital channels.
These figures reflect not only the scale of Agribank’s operations but also its strong capacity for transformation, as Agribank consistently strives to bring modern financial services closer to all people.
Alongside improving business performance, Agribank continues to accelerate the modernisation of its technology infrastructure, develop its digital banking ecosystem, expand cashless payments, enhance its governance model in line with international standards, strengthen risk management, and promote green finance and sustainable development. Agribank’s reputation and capabilities continue to be recognised by international credit rating agencies.
Moody’s maintains Agribank’s Long-Term Issuer and Bank Deposit Ratings at Ba2, while upgrading the outlook from “Stable” to “Positive.” Fitch Ratings assigns Agribank a BB+ Long-Term Issuer Rating, with a “Stable” outlook. These are the highest ratings in Vietnam’s banking system, on par with the sovereign credit rating.
Being honoured among Vietnam’s Top 10 Most Reputable Commercial Banks in 2026 provides further impetus for Agribank to continue innovating, enhancing its competitiveness and promoting its role as a pivotal State-owned commercial bank, accompanying people, businesses and the economy on the journey towards achieving the country’s goals of rapid and sustainable development in the new period.
