Agribank recognized among Top 10 Green ESG Banks in Vietnam 2026

20/04/2026

Agribank has been recognized among the Top 10 Green ESG Banks in Vietnam 2026 (ESG10–2026), an accolade announced by Viet Research in coordination with the Investment and Finance Newspaper. The recognition acknowledges Agribank’s consistent and well-structured efforts in its sustainable development journey. This result further affirms Agribank’s role and position in the green transformation of Vietnam’s financial and banking sector.

The ESG10 program was introduced to develop ESG assessment criteria aligned with international standards while remaining suitable for Vietnam’s practical conditions. As ESG is becoming an increasingly important criterion across the banking system, Agribank’s inclusion in the Top 10 not only represents recognition of a leading banking brand, but also reflects a clearly defined transformation pathway that links growth with environmental, social, and governance responsibilities.

This achievement is the result of Agribank’s comprehensive implementation of its “Digital Bank – Green Bank – Bank for the Community” roadmap. Agribank has gradually established a comprehensive ESG governance framework, integrating environmental criteria into credit granting, risk management, and operations. The issuance of internal ESG standards, together with specific action plans, has helped translate sustainable development commitments into consistent practices across the system.

As a state-owned commercial bank playing a key role in financing agriculture and rural development, with approximately 65% of its outstanding loans concentrated in these sectors, Agribank has a strong foundation for promoting green finance and sustainable development. Its capital flows are directed toward areas such as clean agriculture, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, the circular economy, and sustainable livelihood models. At the same time, the bank has strengthened environmental and social risk control in its credit activities, mitigating the risk of greenwashing and improving the quality of its loan portfolio.

In addition to promoting green credit, Agribank is accelerating the digitalization of its operations and developing “Green Transaction Points”, contributing to reduced paper usage, energy savings, cost optimization, and enhanced customer experience. Agribank also continues to enhance transparency, strengthen the confidence of customers and partners, and gradually improve access to green funding sources.

Being recognized among the Top 10 Green ESG Banks in Vietnam 2026 not only acknowledges Agribank’s current efforts but also serves as a driving force for Agribank to remain committed to sustainable development, linking business performance with environmental and social responsibilities, and contributing meaningfully to the country’s green growth objectives.
