Agribank - Top 10 largest enterprises in Vietnam in 2024

08/01/2025

The 2024 ranking of the 500 largest enterprises in Vietnam, published by Vietnam Report, acknowledges Agribank in the fifth position. This marks the eighth consecutive year that Agribank has secured a place in the Top 10 largest enterprises in Vietnam since 2016.

This result validates Agribank's strong position, which is a reflection of its efficient operations, sustainable growth, and significant contributions to socio-economic development, especially in the agricultural and rural sectors.

In 2024, despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges within the broader economic context, Agribank has strived to overcome obstacles and has fully achieved the business plan assigned, attaining the highest results after four years of implementing the restructuring plan associated with handling of non-performing loans for the 2021-2025 period.

As of the end of 2024, Agribank's total assets reached over VND 2.2 trillion, an increase of nearly 10%; total capital resources reached over VND 2 trillion, an increase of 7.6%; total outstanding loans reached over VND 1.72 trillion, an increase of 11%. The non-performing loan ratio remained low, and pre-tax profits increased by over 8%. With contributions totaling over VND 45 trillion between 2021 and 2024, including an expected payment of over VND 15 trillion in 2024, Agribank has fulfilled its obligation to contribute to the state budget while upholding its brand reputation.

The list of Vietnam's 500 biggest businesses identifies noteworthy businesses that maintain steady and successful operations and enjoy a respectable reputation.  This classification is based on independent research and evaluation by Vietnam Report and VietNamNet, which integrates analyses across multiple criteria, including post-tax profits, total assets, total workforce, actual revenue, and other metrics e.g. return on equity (ROE), return on assets (ROA), and media reputation.

As one of the Big4, Agribank has a critical role in supporting and advancing rural communities, farmers, and agriculture.  Agribank holds the largest share of the agricultural and rural credit market in Vietnam.

In the upcoming years, Agribank plans to enhance its information technology systems and leverage scientific and technological advancements to evolve into a modern, integrated bank focused on digital and retail banking. Agribank aims to transition into a joint-stock commercial bank while adhering to international standards and practices, with an ambitious goal of ranking among the Top 100 largest banks in Asia by asset size, all while ensuring safe and effective operations and retaining its leadership in the agricultural and rural financial sector.

Agribank is also a leader in corporate social responsibility, dedicating substantial resources to various initiatives that enhance community well-being. In 2024, Agribank allocated nearly VND 700 billion to support projects focused on poverty alleviation, education, healthcare, disaster relief, outbreak control, and environmental protection, etc.
