31/12/2020

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development sets a target that by 2025, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam will reach about USD 50-51 billion and increase to USD 60 - 62 billion by 2030.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister for the approval of the "Project to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products through 2030" with the goal that by 2030, Vietnam is one of the top 10 agricultural, forestry and fishery processing countries in the world.

In this proposal, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that in the export achievements of the whole country, the agricultural sector has made a great contribution, being the only sector that continuously maintains the trade surplus.

Currently, Vietnam ranks 16th in the world in terms of exports of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products, with a number of main items with an annual export turnover of over USD 1 billion, i.e. rice, vegetables, coffee, cashew, rubber, timber and wood products, seafood (shrimp and pangasius).

However, on the world market, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and aquatic product exports still increase mainly in volume, the proportion of deeply processed products and products with added value goods is not high.

The export turnover of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products mainly focuses on the main commodity groups in a number of markets such as China, the US, the EU, Japan ... especially the Chinese market; there are still export consignments that do not meet the quality required by international markets.

Therefore, the project to promote the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to 2030 is very necessary in practice, in order to achieve the goals assigned by the Government on agricultural, forestry and fishery exports in the coming period.

The goal set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is to promote the growth of exports of agricultural, forestry and fishery products, participate comprehensively and sustainably in the global supply chain of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products; to improve the quality and value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and aquatic products for export in order to meet the regulations of import markets; and to continue to position and develop brands for Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the international market.

The target is by 2025, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam will reach about USD 50 - 51 billion. About 20% of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam exported are with national brands. About 50% of products are traceable, about 50% of the export value of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products is through processing and deep processing.

By 2030, the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam is set to reach about USD 60 - 62 billion. In which, the group of major agricultural products to reach USD 25 billion, forest products to reach USD 16-17 billion, seafood to reach USD 15 billion, livestock products to reach USD 3-4 billion, other agricultural, forestry and aquatic products to reach about USD 2 billion. About 40% of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and aquatic products exported are branded with the national brand, 70% of products are traceable; About 60% of the export value of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products is through processing and deep processing.
