Vietnam's seafood exports to Europe increase

Vietnam's seafood exports to Europe increased by 15% in volume and 18.6% in value over the same period in 2020, reaching 59.07 thousand tons.

According to the Industry and Trade Information Center (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU in May 2021 are estimated at 23 thousand tons with a value of USD 105 million, an increase of 48.48% in volume and an increase of 44.77% in value compared to May 2020.

Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2021, Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU increased by 15% in volume and 18.6% in value over the same period in 2020, reaching 59.07 thousand tons with a value of USD 390.4 million, accounting for 10.6% in volume and 12.05% in seafood export value of the country.

It is forecast that Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU in the third quarter of 2021 will increase sharply compared to the same period in 2020.

Statistics show that, in May 2021 alone, Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU were estimated at 23 thousand tons with a value of USD 105 million, an increase of 48.48% in volume and an increase of 44.77% in value over May 2020, accounting for 12.5% in volume and 14% of the total seafood export value of the country.

According to the assessment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the results of seafood exports to the EU increased sharply in May 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, recognizing the proactive efforts of Vietnamese seafood exporters to the EU in meeting supply requirements and making good use of the advantages from the EVFTA Trade Agreement.

In the past 5 months, Italy is Vietnam's seafood export market, which has recorded many positive signals, with an estimated export volume of 13.9 thousand tons, worth USD 53.5 million, an increase of 65.2%. in volume and 88% in value compared to the first five months of 2020.

Exports to Italy with good growth are frozen tuna, frozen clams, frozen squid.

It is known that Italy is the third largest seafood export market of Vietnam in the EU (by turnover) with good growth. According to statistics of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's seafood exports to the Italian market in the first four months of 2021 reached 10.4 thousand tons, worth USD 39.59 million, an increase of 59.9% in volume and an increase of 80.3% in value compared to the first four months of 2020.
