Six months of 2021: Hanoi's economy grew 5.91%
Despite being affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hanoi's economy still maintained growth. In the first six months of 2021, Hanoi's GRDP is estimated to increase by 5.91%, higher than the first six months of 2020 (3.39%) but lower than the first six months of 2019 (7.21%).
According to Director of Hanoi Department of Planning and Investment Do Anh Tuan, in the first quarter of 2021, the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 5.17%, 1.25 times the increase of the same period last year (in the first quarter of 2020 it increased by 4.13%).
Accumulated over the first six months of 2021, GRDP is estimated to increase by 5.91%, higher than the first six months of 2020 (3.39%) but lower than the first six months of 2019 (7.21%).
Total state budget revenue in the area in the first six months of the year is estimated at over VND 124,800 billion, reaching 53% of the estimate assigned by the Central Authority, equaling 107.1% over the same period last year.
The sector that continues to be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic is tourism. International visitors to Hanoi (served by accommodation facilities) in the first five months of the year reached 101,000 arrivals, down 85.5% over the same period last year. Domestic visitors to Hanoi (served by accommodation facilities) reached more than 1.3 million visitors, down 18.9% over the same period last year.
In the first six months of the year, Hanoi continued to promote support for investors and businesses from business registration to project implementation and to remove difficulties, and at the same time, review projects with slow implementation of land use, create a healthy investment environment and equal access to land. The PCI index in 2020 continues to hold the 9th position out of 63 provinces and cities.
Foreign investment attraction reached over USD 694 million (of which 171 new projects with a capital of USD 96.05 million; 78 projects with additional investment capital with a capital of USD 447.7 million; 250 times of capital contribution, share purchase with the capital of USD 120.5 million).
In the city area, there are 13,125 newly established enterprises with a registered capital of VND 165,730 billion. The number of enterprises returning to operation was 5,687 enterprises (an increase of 74% over the same period). The total number of enterprises in the city reached 315,248 enterprises.
