The government strives for GDP growth of 6-6.5% in 2022


At the Government meeting with localities on January 5, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai presented the Government's draft resolution on key tasks and solutions for the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget estimate in 2022.

The Government's draft resolution on key tasks and solutions for the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget estimate in 2022 proposes 12 main tasks and solutions. In particular, the first task of the Government Resolution is to focus on flexibly and effectively implementing the goal of both prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, while recovering and developing the economy and society.

In which, the Government determined to implement synchronously and effectively the program for COVID-19 prevention and control and the program for socio-economic recovery and development, striving for a GDP growth of 6-6.5%; GDP per capita of USD 3,900.

The task of flexibly and effectively controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, both for pandemic prevention and economic development, must be implemented consistently from the central to local levels; appropriate pandemic prevention measures must be effectively implemented, creating maximum convenience for the circulation of goods and labor after the pandemic outbreak.

In which, the Government aims to accelerate vaccination for children, booster shots, ensuring science and effectiveness; promoting technology transfer, research and production of vaccines and therapeutic drugs in the country; promoting the role of the local level health network, rapid response teams, Covid-19 treatment support teams and community-based Covid-19 teams.

The Government also aims to promptly and effectively implement fiscal and monetary solutions to implement the program of socio-economic recovery and development; promoting domestic consumption, striving to increase the total retail sales of consumer goods and services to 7-8%; striving for the rate of mobilization of investment capital for the whole society to reach about 35% of GDP; continue to maintain macroeconomic stability, control the average growth rate of the consumer price index (CPI) around 4%, ensuring major balances of the economy, etc.

In addition to the goal of both controlling the pandemic and restoring economic development, the Government also aims to rapidly develop a synchronous and modern infrastructure system. In which, speeding up the construction of key infrastructure projects, strengthening regional, inter-regional, regional and international connections, especially important transport infrastructure projects such as the construction of a number of expressway sections on the North-South East route; My Thuan - Can Tho expressway project; Long Thanh international airport project; speeding up and putting into operation of a number of urban railway lines in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.
