On October 22, 2025, at its Headquarters in Hanoi, Agribank hosted a working meeting with Guangxi Beibu Gulf Bank (GXBank) and signed a cross-border payment cooperation agreement between Agribank’s Cao Bằng Branch and GXBank’s Baise Branch, marking a new milestone in expanding bilateral cooperation in trade payments and banking services.

The GXBank delegation was led by Mr. Yang Yuzhi – Chairman, accompanied by Ms. Liu Pan – Head of the General Office, Mr. Huang Jie, Mr. Yan Dajun, and Mr. Bi Yongyue. Representing Agribank were Mr. Đoàn Ngọc Lưu – Deputy General Director, together with senior officials from Agribank’s functional departments, the International Payment Center, and Cao Bằng Branch.

During the meeting, both parties exchanged information on their operational strengths and discussed potential collaboration areas, especially in international payments and cross-border transactions. Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Nanning, Guangxi, GXBank currently operates 13 regional branches, over 360 outlets, and employs more than 5,800 staff, with total assets exceeding CNY 540 billion as of June 30, 2025.

As one of Vietnam’s largest state-owned commercial banks, Agribank plays a pivotal role in serving agriculture, farmers, and rural development, while also providing international payment services to over 160 countries and territories. China remains one of Agribank’s key partners, with correspondent relationships established with 47 Chinese banks.

The two banks agreed to strengthen cooperation in several strategic areas, including optimizing cross-border payment processes, expanding e-commerce and supply-chain financing, developing a cross-border credit information system, enhancing collaboration through the CIPS (Cross-Border Interbank Payment System), and applying artificial intelligence (AI) in banking and financial operations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Đoàn Ngọc Lưu, Deputy General Director of Agribank, emphasized that the event represents “an important milestone reflecting the close and trusted partnership between Agribank and GXBank”, expressing confidence that both sides will further deepen cooperation in multiple business areas. Mr. Yang Yuzhi, Chairman of GXBank, expressed his appreciation for Agribank’s warm hospitality and affirmed GXBank’s commitment to a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.

The strengthened cooperation between Agribank and GXBank will contribute to promoting cross-border financial connectivity, facilitating trade and investment flows, and enhancing economic collaboration between Vietnam and China in the new era.
